A passion created by family members early on in his life, breeders of German Shepherds & Rottweilers. Taylor's interest in dogs & their ways always lingered in the back of his mind no matter what path of life he was on growing up. After graduating Highschool in 2011, Taylor immediately began his college journey at the University of Maine for business management. After years of working for a corporate seafood export company, Taylor found himself tired of chasing the business degree, corporate dream & went on a mission to "find his purpose". No longer at home with his family pets, his mind continuously wondered off to thoughts of dogs, training them, & how one could create a career doing so. From this journey, the real journey began. Starting out volunteering at any and every nearby dog rescue/ shelter such as the Animal Refuge League, Midcoast Humane Society as well as any dog daycare he could after work. Soaking up as much as he possible, learning do's and don'ts at each facility ultimately in preparation for opening his own dog business someday. 

Beginning in 2016 Taylor started training his family and friend's dogs for free as he continued to learn more about training as well as work on perfecting his dog handling skills. As time went on Taylor realized there was a lot more to learn and experience in the dog training world that was crucial for the success of his future plans of being a well known, reputable, reliable professional Dog Trainer so, he packed his bags & traveled across the country to Texas with his wife Terresa & their second rescue dog to attend & graduate from Starmark Academy, school for professional dog trainers. During this time A1K9 ACADEMY was established & our new turf yards and indoor training spaces were being renovated in preparation of  offering the most personalized dog training, engaging and beneficial daycare, above and beyond overnight boarding services & more upon the return from Starmark. Understanding the true value in knowledge and experience in dog training, since graduating Starmark, Taylor has achieved his AKC CGC evaluator title, STSK9 Master view program certification, e-collar certifications, puppy programs & more!

Since 2018, Taylor has built an incredible reputation for himself & A1K9 Academy as one of the Top Dog Trainers in Maine, New England and throughout the entire East Coast for dogs of all breeds, ages, & cases! Winning competitions for Maine's best dog daycare, boarding & training facility in 2022,2023, & 2024! Expanding from 600sqft to over 7,000sqft of indoor and outdoor space between 2018-2022.  Mentoring and training inspiring trainers & behaviorist & more! Taylor has also successfully & proudly trained numerous nationally ranked Show Dogs, including Goldiva Goldens Grand Champions, Geti, Sizzle, Sake, & Angels Envy to name a few. Along with mastering basic to advanced off leash obedience, specializing in certain breeds, & competitive sports, Taylor has become a very well-known behavioral modification trainer for the even the most troubled cases of both rescue dogs & purebreds. Successfully improving and helping owners with the most troubled, reactive, fearful, & aggressive cases find ways to better fulfill and provide for the dogs they love dearly and are responsible for,  year after year! 

Terresa, a USM graduate of business management and marketing, joined A1K9 Academy early in 2019. Terresa's experience & confidence in management & marketing  quickly established her much needed role as the overall General Business Operations Manager & Pack Leader!

When Terresa joined A1K9 Academy in 2019, we had roughly 10-15 dogs a day regularly for daycare, boarding or training with no staff. Since she's started, we have grown and achieved daily numbers averaging between 38-40 dogs a day for daycare & training, as well as managing & training a full time staff of 4-6 members!

Along with Terresa's impressive management & marketing, she has grown tremendously as a dog behaviorist, pack manager & even as a K9 Handler! Flooding herself into every aspect of this business, learning, growing and improving her skills and comfort within the industry we are in. Her passion for dogs, love for people & open mind to learning new ways to better improve her skills in the field of work we are in, has been crucial to the success of each and everyone of us here at A1K9 Academy!

Terresa is the best!

Growing up in Queens, New York, walking past the local dog store every day on his way to and from school, Jordan would ponder why dog owners were so invested in their dogs well being and happiness. As time went on & Jordan grew older, his first family pet was all he needed to receive all the answers he was wondering about. Graduating from Saint Joseph College of Maine and playing basketball for four years, Jordan learned lessons both on and off the court that he now utilizes in his everyday life. Owning two *very large* Cane Corso’s, one of which (Pia two years old) attended the three-week A1K9 Academy board and train program,  establishing an amazing foundation of training, obedience and habits to ensure she is under control in all situations. Peanut, Jordan's second Cane Corso, soon to be three-years-old, was rescued from a less than fortunate situation. Due to this, Peanut has some unique reactive & aggressive behavioral issues that we addressing, working on & improving here at A1K9 Academy!

Jordan joined A1K9 Academy with a passion and goal of becoming a reputable, reliable, professional dog trainer. Starting as our daycare attendant, learning about dog behavior & dog pack behaviors, Jordan quickly excelled within his first year. Jordan is now our daycare supervisor & dog pack behavior specialist! As time has gone on, Jordan has begun shadowing Taylor's training sessions with the end goal of training dogs through the A1K9 Academy programs & more! 

With his positive, can do, open minded attitude, Jordan has become a perfect fit for the A1K9 Academy Family & we are very excited for his future here at A1K9!
